Curves International, Inc. Names Nico Engelsman as President of International and Hannah Karass as Vice President of Programs and Science

Waco, TX – July 31, 2013 –  Curves International, Inc., a leader in the fitness and weight management category and the largest fitness center chain in the world for women, announced today the addition of two leaders to the management team. Nico Engelsman has been named President of International and Hannah Karass has been named Vice President of Programs and Science.  Both executives will report directly to Monty Sharma, CEO and President of Curves International, Inc.

Mr. Engelsman will lead all international activities for Curves across marketing, sales, and operations in all territories outside of North America.  Prior to joining Curves, Mr. Engelsman was with Philips for 30 years in leadership roles across continents and multiple consumer divisions spanning sales, production and marketing.  Most notably, Mr. Engelsman oversaw the Philips worldwide Shaving and Grooming Unit, which included extensive product development, production in multiple factories and countries and had a sales revenue of $1.2 billion. The innovative campaigns overseen by Mr. Engelsman were heavily researched and were adapted to local needs.  Mr. Engelsman will be based in the Netherlands.

In her role at Curves, Ms. Karass will oversee continued innovation for both the Curves Fitness and Curves Complete programs, working to establish new compelling offerings to enhance efficacy and deliver consumer results.  Before joining Curves, Ms. Karass was the president and founder of Core Solutions International, a consulting firm specializing in design, branding, business strategy and operating standards for health centers and spas.  Additionally, she was the senior vice president and chief operating officer at Healthworks Fitness Center’s for Women in Boston, MA serving as one of the visionaries behind the growth, success and innovation of the trend-setting women’s only enterprise. Hannah was instrumental in leading Healthworks through its largest period of growth and helped make the company one of the most identifiable brands in women’s fitness.
