I have always enjoyed exercise. I did aerobics at home through high school and worked out on a ski machine through my early 20s, but never felt fit. I was always working to lose the pounds, not realizing that it was my type of exercise that was wrong – not necessarily my eating habits. I joined Curves in 2003, with a goal of losing weight to feel better about myself. My children were 8 and 11 and I had still not lost the baby weight. I quickly realized the benefit of strength training by losing 15 pounds***, and increased energy – all within the first 3 months!
In 2009, I became the proud owner of Curves, East Greenville. I love the consultation process and getting to know the woman in front of me – giving her hope. I love the monthly coaching sessions and being able to show members what they have achieved so far. I love celebrating them as they succeed in their health and fitness goals.
I push myself very hard because I have to. My family history includes heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and cancer. I am determined to do my part in staying healthy. I will do all I can to help others be healthy, too. I promise my members that I will never ask more of them then I am willing to do – or at least try – myself.
My advice is to NOT give up! Life has a tendency to get in the way, but we cannot allow temporary setbacks to become permanent excuses. Be persistent! Anything worth having is worth working – and waiting – for. It is not going to happen overnight, but it WILL happen if you don’t give up. Be consistent! Working out has to become a habit – your new norm, ESPECIALLY when you hit your goals. Maintenance is key to keeping up all those benefits that you worked so hard to achieve. You are beautiful just the way you are – let us help you to recognize it!
