As a busy Mom of two kids and two bonus daughters, I found it difficult to take time to focus on myself. In typical mom style, I usually put everyone else’s goals and activities ahead of my own. I gained 70 pounds when I had my children, and gained 20 more since they were born. I tried many different weight loss and exercise programs over the years, and gave it my all each time, but would never succeed.
Joining Curves 4 years ago is the catalyst that has taken me to where I am today. My coaches took the time to explain how important it is to not only lose weight, but lose the right weight (lose fat, not lean muscle mass). I never “got it” before. It helped me understand why my weight would come back after diets before.
During the first few years of my membership, I wasn’t getting the results I wanted because I didn’t put all the pieces together. It took me longer possibly than others, but I finally realized I needed to work out and eat right. At Curves, you get a great workout (strength training and cardio), you learn to eat right through the Curves Complete program, and you have the unending support from your Curves Coaches.
My transformation process started in March 2016, and continued during the 10-week challenge. The challenge helped keep me stay accountable to Curves by going 3 times a week, and I added walking and began eating healthy. In eight months, I lost 60 lbs***. I would not be where I am today without the constant encouragement and knowledge from my coaches. Through this journey, I have found strength in myself that I didn’t know I had, and I hope that I can inspire others to never give up.
