New baby? You need a new exercise routine! Of course you know everything is going to be new and exciting with a brand new baby, but don’t feel bad when part of you starts wondering when the heck you can get your old body back—every new mom struggles with questions of when to start working out again. Looking for inspiration to get back into exercise? Check out these five workout motivation tips for new moms:

1. Combat the baby blues.

According to the Mayo Clinic , exercise is a natural defense against the baby blues!

2. Lower your stress levels.

If you’re going back to work soon (or are already back) it might seem like the last thing you need to do is spend another 30 minutes away from your baby to exercise. But it’s actually more reason to take a little time for you. The healthier you are physically and emotionally—the lower your stress levels will be. Low stress will make it easier to switch into mom mode, even after a long day at the office.

3. Accomplish a goal.

When you’re pregnant you see how truly amazing your body is. Now that you know you can accomplish the incredible feat of growing another person inside of you—you should know that you can do anything you set your mind to!

4. Fit into your pre-baby clothes.

Imagine how great it will be to have your new baby and fit in your old jeans. It's like having your (low-fat) cake and eating it too!

5. Increase your energy.

Right now your baby doesn’t do much but sleep and eat but before you know it, he or she will be a bustling, hustling toddler—and you’ll need to be able to keep up on the playground!

Only your doctor can give you the "all clear" to start your post-baby exercise routine, but typically that comes about six weeks after a routine delivery. Whenever you physically feel ready to exercise, Curves is the very best place for you to be. Because Curves is a women’s gym, it has a safe and supportive environment where you can feel okay about wherever you’re starting out. All the equipment is designed so that you can push as hard as you feel comfortable.

There are so many ways to make progress and they aren’t all centered around getting into your pre-baby jeans. Along the way there will be plenty of milestones to celebrate and you feel your body get tighter, stronger and more agile.
