We’re celebrating Curves’ 25th Birthday and the strong women who make it such a great community. In honor of the occasion, we’re sharing 25 habits that happy women practice. We know that everyone can get busy or stressed from time to time, which can make it tough to focus on all the positives going on in your life. However, being happy should always be top a priority, so savor the small stuff, take in the good, and find balance in your everyday life. Challenge yourself to practice these 25 habits:

 

1. Treat your self

It’s definitely okay to take some “me-time” and give yourself some time to enjoy a movie you’ve been dying to see, a manicure, and a latte.

 

2. Stop and smell the roses

Live in the moment and appreciate the little things—smell the fresh cut lawn, hear the birds tweeting, and see the sunshine filter through the leaves.

 

3. Surround yourself with happy people

Encircle yourself with positive people in your life and they’ll empower you to be the best you can be.

 

4. Meditate

Clear your mind and regain your focus. Download a guided meditation app on your phone and spend 10 minutes each day meditating.

 

5. Schedule a sweat session

Not only will you feel healthier, but working out regularly releases those happy brain chemicals, endorphins.

 

6. Imperfect is ok

Nothing is perfect, and it’s ok to remember that sometimes, even the best laid plans can go awry.

 

7. Wake up early

See the sunrise, eat a healthy breakfast, and have a simple start to the day.

 

8. Put on a happy face

Smile at strangers. Smile at yourself in the mirror. You’ll make others feel good and make yourself feel great while showing off those pearly whites.

 

9. Be a part of something bigger

Be an activist for something you believe in, join a book club, an art class, or find meaningful connections at your local Curves.

 

10. Give thanks

Have an attitude of gratitude wherever you go and write it down, too.

 

11. Eat wholesome food

Feeling depressed? Ditch the junk food for a nutritious and well-rounded diet, which can help your body and your mind.

 

12. Listen to your body

Pay attention to when your body is telling you to slow down or get some rest.

 

13. Stay hydrated

Drink more water to help relieve fatigue and improve your mood.

 

14. Sleep a full 7-8 hours

Getting a good night’s sleep is key to warding off irritability, stress and ensuring better performance the next day.

 

15. Ask for help

If you’re feeling overwhelmed with a work project or need a break overall, remember it’s ok to rely on others and ask for help.

 

16. No drama

Brush it off. There are bigger fish to fry than worrying about what others think or petty squabbles.

 

17. Dance

Crank up the tunes and dance, baby, dance (and burn a few extra calories, too).

 

18. Speak only positively about yourself

It’s important to celebrate yourself. Go ahead and say it aloud: you’re strong; you had a great hair day; you knocked that presentation out of the park.

 

19. Write in a journal

Take up journaling each night to help sort out your feelings in order to reflect.

 

20. Set goals and meet them

Dream big! Working toward something, like a new fitness goal or a promotion, gives you purpose.

Remember to continue to build strong connections with your family and friends; the people you lean on the most.

When catching up with a friend or meeting someone new, disconnect from technology and really give the other person your full attention.

Sure, someone may have cut in front of you at the supermarket self-checkout line, but it’s so much easier to just forgive and forget.

Set aside money from each paycheck to build a nest egg for new experiences and create lasting, happy memories to savor.
