A proud wife and mother, Patricia McCoy felt something was lacking
in her life. Then, at 50, she discovered...herself.
Responding to all the "honey-do's" and
"mommy-do's" of her husband of 19 years
and their three children, this issue's cover
model Patricia McCoy was a tireless homemaker. Establishing a business to help other moms meet their household needs,
she was increasingly busy. But she was not fulfilled. And despite all the
activity in her life, she was unable to lose the pounds she had gained over the
years. None of her attempts to lose the weight - from health clubs to a personal
trainer to a treadmill in her own home - have worked. Until now.
THE NEW ME "I'm meeting myself - a woman whom I've had
inside who's pretty cool, and the woman I am maturing into. I like who I am,
and I didn't before. I used to wear clothes to hide my bulges. And mentally
I would disapprove of others who were my size or larger wearing what I
thought was too tight fitting or revealing. I'm not judgmental about myself
or others any longer."
THE ROYAL TREATMENT
"At my Curves we call our
workout coaches Princess Marion and Princess Kristen. We all feel like
we're princesses, like we're special. Curves celebrates and elevates the
beauty of women who are curvaceous."
NEW MOVES
"Curves has shored up my self-esteem and
helped me feel more feminine and outgoing. At a recent family
reunion I felt so good about how I looked and what I had on that I got
up and danced. My legs were so sore the next day that I could hardly
walk, but I still worked out. And I'll be dancing again!"
BACK ON COURSE
"My husband and I met on a
golf course and I love the game but I'd been derailed for years.
Now I have upper body strength and can play again thanks to the
total-body exercise at Curves."
WHY CURVES
"I didn't want to develop health problems. I
wanted to be proactive, to get to a particular fitness level. Curves offered
an exercise program with a book that had an eating system that seemed realistic.
And it has been. I'm happy with where I am and where I'm headed."
